Meals Delivered To Door

As hunger continues to rise, Anoka County Brotherhood Council (ACBC) has been working to ensure community members receive access to a variety of programs and services addressing food insecurity.

Much of ACBC’s work is done in partnership with other organizations who provide supportive services to the community.

One of ACBC’s partners, Meals on Wheels of Anoka County, made the difficult decision to dissolve their organization. To ensure this much-needed program continues to provide more than 350 meals per day, ACBC is starting its own, new program – ACBC Meals on Wheels – launching November 1.

Meals on Wheels of Anoka County continued services until October 31, ACBC Meals on Wheels program will start November 1. Both organizations are worked together to ensure there was no interruption in service for clients.

Both ACBC and Meals on Wheels of Anoka County have a clear priority in mind: protecting and continuing meal delivery services for the people in our community who rely on them.

“We’re looking forward to adding Meals on Wheels to our programming. This vital resource aligns with ACBC’s mission and programming, providing food and supportive services to the community. We are also thankful for Allina Health who will continue on as the meal provider for ACBC Meals on Wheels,” CEO Stephanie Lehman shared.

The addition of this programming does not impact other food programs at ACBC where services continue as usual.

The supportive, dedicated work of the committed of staff, volunteers, and donors at Meals on Wheels Anoka County community have created a strong foundation that ACBC will carry forward as it begins this next chapter of Meals on Wheels service in the community.

ACBC has served Anoka County since 1971, building strong community relationships through its long-standing commitment to reducing hunger while treating every person with dignity. Its existing services include senior food assistance and grocery delivery for eligible homebound individuals, giving ACBC valuable expertise meeting the nutritional needs of older adults and others who face barriers to accessing food.
